The beloved Mt Nelson Pump Track is being revitalized into an inclusive, world-class facility for riders of all ages and abilities, with construction starting mid-August, 2026.
Led by the Columbia Valley Cycling Society (CVCS), this project is being delivered in collaboration with the District of Invermere, Rocky Mountain School District, and the Columbia Valley Greenways Trail Alliance.
Built to World-Class Standards
The revitalized pump track is being built by Velosolutions, the global leader for innovative pump tracks, and will feature a durable asphalt surface, creating a smoother, more accessible experience for a wide range of wheeled users, including bikes, inline skates, and scooters.
The revitalized pump track will also include Velosolutions Vorld App technology, a free app enabling riders to count and track lap times.
The redesigned track meets world-class standards and offers a place to play, learn, progress, and refine technique, while positioning Invermere to host future events and competitions.
Construction Timeline
Construction is scheduled to begin in mid-August 2026 and continue for approximately six weeks, with completion anticipated by the end of September 2026.
What's new:
- Asphalt surface for durability and smoother riding
- Designed for all ages, skill levels, and abilities
- Accessible for bikes, inline skates, and scooters
- Built to a world-class standard
Built for the Community
The design includes two tracks beginning from a shared start zone: a smaller track for newer riders and a longer, more advanced track. This layout will accommodate more riders and support better flow during busy periods.
This revitalization will help create a more vibrant, active community for years to come, increase year-round use, and expand access to inclusive, outdoor recreation for residents and visitors.
Funding
The total project cost is $620,000.
Thanks to the generosity of major funding partners, Columbia Basin Trust (CBT) and the Resort Municipality Initiative (RMI), the project secured its initial $480,000 in funding. The CVCS contributed $10,000, bringing the total to $490,000.
Community Campaign
Now it's our community's turn. Our Community Campaign is raising the remaining funds needed to complete the project, with support from individuals, businesses and community fundraising initiatives.
